The Speech Department at Aspire of WNY’s Center for Learning (CFL) has been hard at work helping students strengthen their communication, reporting, and interviewing skills—and now those efforts are paying off in a big way!
To put their new skills into action, the department launched The Shout Out Show, a special edition program where students step into the role of reporters to share all the exciting news happening throughout the school. The experience gives them a fun\ platform to practice communication while celebrating their school community!
On November 4, CFL students learned about the importance of voting, leadership, and making their voices heard by participating in a school-wide election for President, Vice President, and Class Representatives. The energy was high, and anticipation filled the halls as ballots were cast!
And when it was time to break the big story, The Shout Out Show Reporters jumped right in!
Using their preferred methods of communication, the student reporters proudly announced the election results and gave well-deserved shoutouts to their newly elected classmates. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, growing communication skills, and the leadership shown by those stepping up to represent their classmates!
A special thank you to the dedicated Speech Department staff at the CFL for guiding students through this hands-on learning experience and empowering them to find their voice—both on and off camera!
