Senator Mannion has had a steadfast focus on disability issues and legislation during his time in public office. He has been instrumental in passing key pieces of legislation that aim to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) live richer lives, which also aligns with Aspire of WNY’s mission. We are proud to have a representative that cares about the community we serve.

Senator Mannion has sponsored legislation that benefits the lives of the I/DD population. This includes establishing a living allowance for adults with developmental disabilities, creating a public awareness campaign to combat stigmas about developmental disabilities, and supporting legislation that increases the flexibility for those with disabilities to make decisions about their guardianship. Senator Mannion has also expanded the Preferred Source Program to boost employment opportunities for I/DD individuals, secured the first cost of living increase for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who support the I/DD population, and he continues to work towards solutions to address workforce and housing shortages.
