Pierogi that Positively Impact the WNY Community: 2024 Pierogi Masterclass Fundraiser was HUGE Success!

Culinary enthusiasts and the Aspire of WNY community alike came together to learn how to make pierogi and raise proceeds for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities supported by our agency!

Participants purchased tickets, including food, drinks, and a spot in a pierogi-making class hosted by Sto Lat Bar. The class started with a vibrant history lesson, with the experts at Sto Lat providing insight into the rich history of pierogies and pierogi-making as Polish cuisine.

The head chef of Sto Lat guided the participants through crafting the perfect dough fit for a pierogi. When each participant’s dough was perfectly kneaded and ready, they were set to the side to rest. Each participant could later take home their dough to continue their pierogi-making adventures from the comfort of their own kitchen. The crew at Sto Lat then brought out some pre-made dough for participants to get their hands on. Participants were shown how to shape the perfect pierogi, stuffing them with a luscious cheese filling. After the class ended, participants stuck around for some extra mingling and drinks.

“The Pierogi Masterclass is such a fun event, and we’re thrilled to be able to partner with Sto Lat bar for the second year in a row to have this awesome night come together,” explains Megan Rechin, Vice President of Communications at Aspire of WNY. “Here at Aspire of WNY, we love to bring our most imaginative fundraising ideas to life through our “innovation fund,” which allows our sponsors to support non-traditional initiatives that give back to our agency and the individuals we support. Pierogi and giving back to the community are both staples here in western New York, making this event a huge success!”

“The Pierogi Masterclass is a great way to engage our surrounding community and get them involved in something fun that they don’t get to do every day, all while raising funds for our agency and the individuals that we support,” explains Renee Fillip, CEO and President of Aspire of WNY.

Not only was the Pierogi Masterclass a fun night to remember, but it was also an innovative opportunity for our agency to raise funds that will directly benefit the individuals we support. Collaborative opportunities like this are essential for advancing our agency’s growth and securing the resources needed to carry out our mission. To see more photos, visit our event gallery page here.
