MARCH 21st, 2024 Agency-Wide Message:
In the afternoon of April 8th, 2024, WNY will experience a total solar eclipse. This is where the moon will pass directly in front of the sun, blocking out all light, and for a few minutes, our region of the world will experience total darkness! This is very exciting for many people, meaning thousands of tourists will visit our communities to observe the eclipse. Here’s what to know:
- On April 8th, Aspire of WNY will not have individuals or students report to Day Habilitation programs, the Article 16 Clinic, the Center for Learning (CFL), or the CFL’s Day Care
- All Aspire of WNY offices will be OPEN, and staff will report to work unless they want to use their vacation or personal time
- Day Habilitation staff will be deployed to Residential Opportunities facilities for the day unless they use their vacation or personal time
- Eclipse glasses are being secured for the safety of the individuals we support in Residential Opportunities and will be distributed to as many people as possible
- Any other significant changes to schedule, activities, work, etc., will be communicated via your division’s Vice President/Director and will include details relevant to your team/division
The WNY area will experience high traffic congestion, visiting tourists, business delays, and other various disruptions on the days leading up to and including April 8th. This can impact travel and safety. We ask that you keep the safety of yourselves and the safety of the individuals we support at the forefront of operations during the day of the eclipse and every day.

Please remember, DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE ECLIPSE. This can cause serious injury. Be cautious.
