Icy Delights at Winterval 2025!

Buffalo may be extra cold this winter, but Aspire of WNY knows how to heat things up with our annual Winterval celebration at Buffalo RiverWorks! With ice skating, curling, a basket raffle, a delicious dinner buffet, and inclusive activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

The event kicked off at 5:30 PM, and attendees were greeted with an exciting array of raffle prizes, including a signed Buffalo Bills Tight End Dawson Knox helmet. Participants were introduced to a fun twist at registration: the take-a-chance game!  Here, volunteers held up fruits they couldn’t see. The lucky contestant doubled their money if all three displayed the same fruit. If not, the funds were generously donated to our agency —a funky twist to the evening for those feeling lucky!

Upstairs, guests had the chance to mingle. At the same time, they enjoyed a buffet-style dinner featuring classic Buffalo favorites such as pizza, wings, and beef on weck, as well as unlimited soda, hot chocolate, and coffee. Dessert included an assortment of cookies, and a cash bar was available for those looking to get their booze on. For guests seeking some friendly competition, the upstairs space also offered cornhole and giant Jenga!

Downstairs, the fun continued! Guests explored the RiverWorks VR room arcade and went to the outdoor ice rink for frosty fun. Accessibility was a key focus of the event, thanks to the support of Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports. Adaptive ice sports equipment, including hockey sleds, sticks, helmets, and pusher handles, ensured participants of all abilities could join the fun and excitement.

“Winterval is such a fantastic event and always brings excitement to these long winter months after the holidays,” shares Melissa Roth, Chief Human Resources Officer at Aspire of WNY. “It’s amazing to see people of all abilities come together at Buffalo RiverWorks for a night filled with fun and something special for everyone to enjoy!”

This incredible event was made possible by the generous support of our corporate sponsors: Independent Health, Parkview Health Services, Buffalo Sabres Foundation, Davis Ulmer Fire Protection, Toshiba, Troy and Melissa Roth, and Renee A. Filip. Their contributions were vital in creating a fun and memorable experience for all who attended.

We’re already counting down the days until next year’s Winterval, and we hope to see you there for another unforgettable night of winter fun!
