November 3rd, 2025 Update | 12:10 PM

Aspire of WNY Center for Learning is writing to inform you of a potential gas leak in the Center for Learning building. As such, everyone is being evacuated per emergency protocols. First responders are on the way. We will provide more information as we can, and student and staff safety is our highest priority.

October 31st, 2025 Update

We are writing to provide you with an important update on the safety plan and precautions we are taking at Aspire of WNY Center for Learning following a security concern that began the morning of October 29th (see other updates pertaining to the concern below). Please be assured that the safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority.

Safety Plan for Next Week (November 3 – November 7, 2025)

To maintain a secure environment, we are implementing the following key measures:

  • On-Site Security Guard: We have requested a security guard to be present at the main entrance from 7:30 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Modified Secure Lockout: We will continue to operate in a state of modified Secure Lockout. This means:
    • All access doors will be locked at all times.
    • All students and employees must enter and exit through the main entrance, except during student arrival and departure.
    • The bus circle entrance will be used for student entry during arrival and departure, with additional supervision at that location.
  • Visitor Protocol: We will begin to allow expected visitors (those with a confirmed appointment) into the building. All visitors must:
    • Enter through the main entrance.
    • Be escorted and accompanied with appropriate supervision during their entire visit.
    • Follow all established visitor protocol guidelines.

Based on feedback and to ensure that all families receive timely information, we have created a “Center for Learning Parent & Guardian Information Portal.” (Where you are now viewing this information) This dedicated resource will house important information, security updates, and communications relevant to you.

We encourage you to check the link frequently, especially in the evenings and before school.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize a safe and secure learning environment. We continue to work with local law enforcement, and legal & communications professionals to monitor and evaluate this security concern. If you have any questions, you can reach out to mrechin@aspirewny.org. Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Aspire of WNY Center for Learning Leadership Team

October 30th, 2025 Update #2

TO ALL ASPIRE OF WNY CENTER FOR LEARNING FAMILIES, GUARDIANS, AND STUDENTS:

Parents & Guardians of Aspire of WNY Center for Learning Students,

We wanted to write to provide updates on the security alert and situation at the Center for Learning that began on October 29th, 2025.

To read our previous update, you can click here to view it: https://www.aspirewny.org/safety-information-for-parents-guardians/

Here are the updates:

1. Today, October 30th, 2025, out of an abundance of caution, Aspire of WNY’s Center for Learning operated in a modified Secure Lockout. This means that only employees with valid access cards and students were allowed to enter and exit the building. At all times, the building traditionally operates in a lockout status, with strict visitor protocol. Tomorrow, we will again operate in a modified Secure Lockout status to be cautious.

2. We worked with Cheektowaga Police to have a police presence on site and a security guard. The same will happen tomorrow with an active-duty police officer working the security detail.

3. The Center for Learning Leadership team was actively involved today, supported by the agency administration team, and the same will happen tomorrow to support the staff and students.

4. Throughout the day, all students and team members operated with “business as usual,” and all educational and clinical services were provided without interruption. We anticipate the same will happen tomorrow.

5. The former employee who began sending the communications on October 29th has continued to send them via email and on social media. Our leadership team, legal professionals, multiple local law enforcement agencies, and communications consultants are monitoring this situation and are aware of all posts, messages, and related content. If you see a message that you would like to ensure we know about, you can send it to Megan Rechin, Vice President of Communications at mrechin@aspirewny.org at any time, and we will share it with the proper authorities.

6. We have talked directly with many parents and families who wanted more information throughout the day. It is clear that families are seeking more information about this situation and about the school systems as a whole. As such, a representative of the agency will reach out to families over the next few days to touch base, answer any questions or concerns, and ensure that we have the proper contact information on record. Please watch out for that phone call, and we look forward to speaking with you soon.

7. We post security bulletin updates to our Facebook page, so please ensure you follow the page if you have a Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/aspirecenterforlearning/

We understand that situations like this evolve day to day, and we look forward to continuing to communicate with you as we can. However, don’t hesitate to reach out to Megan Rechin, Vice President of Communications, at any time.

Thank you,

Aspire of WNY Center for Learning Leadership Team

Here are the details:
