Aspire of WNY was proud to stand alongside New York Disability Advocates (NYDA) in Albany recently to call for stronger support for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Representing Aspire of WNY were Paris, an advocate and individual supported by our agency; Jade, Paris’s support staff; President & CEO Renee Filip; and VP of Communications & Growth Opportunities Megan Rechin. Together, they joined agencies, families, and self-advocates from across the state to urge leaders to invest in fair wages, stable housing, childcare, and healthcare for the workforce that makes our mission possible.
(Paris also made it his mission to climb ALL the way to the TOP of Albany and ran up the stairs towards the Capitol to share his mission, in a very “Rocky” esque fashion!)
These investments are essential to maintaining services and a stable workforce for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Aspire of WNY is committed to advocating for long-term solutions that strengthen DSPs and protect the future of services across New York. We’re grateful to join this movement and will continue to push for the resources our community deserves!
