Turning Disabilities into Capabilities

Speak Out Speak Out for Aspire

Aspire’s Self Advocacy Initiative includes a group of about 30 people with disabilities who advocate for the rights of themselves and others with disabilities. The program culminates every spring with a trip to Albany, when participants lobby the State legislature. This initiative won the Cerebral Palsy of New York State 2005 Program Services Award.

Identifying, embracing and promoting an issue or cause may involve influencing public opinion and policy. Aspire will occasionally ask families and friends to join us in making known to legislators our position on specific legislation. Aspire does not participate in any political campaign activities.

Please visit the Action & Education Center to join Aspire in ensuring that public policy positively impacts the lives of children and adults with disabilities and their families.
