Summarize your primary responsibility in one to two sentences.
On the Environment & Safety side, I oversee the coordination of
property management. On the Transportation side, I direct the day to day
operations of Aspire's transportation business, which includes a fleet
of nearly 160 vehicles that log 2.5 million miles and 84,240 trips per
year. My responsibilities also include fleet purchasing, driver
safety/preventative maintenance programs, and fleet maintenance
inspection and repair.
Summarize your most notable contributions throughout your employment at Aspire.
On the Transportation side, I've seen the growth and expansion of the
Transportation dept from one vehicle in 1984 to nearly 160 vehicles
today. Since 1996, I've been instrumental in increasing our fleet size
with the purchase of converted vans for every group home.
On the Environment & Safety side, I've been fortunate to
participate in the development of more than 90 percent of our group
homes and apartment buildings. I played a key role in improving bed
safety, conducting trainings for both Aspire and other agencies across
the state. I assure that houses are accessible and comfortable.
How did your passion for helping people with disabilities come about?
Once I got here and was able to contribute to the success of helping
folks have a more fulfilling life, I've never stopped enjoying it.
What is the most rewarding part of working at Aspire?
Recognizing that you have an ability that can assist in making a difference.
Do you have any words of encouragement for parents of individuals with disabilities?
Aspire has been fortunate in recruiting individuals who enjoy their work here and who are proud to be here to assist.
What are your thoughts on the future of Aspire's services for people with disabilities?
I see it getting better as technology continues to improve. I'm
optimistic that eventually technology will advance to the point where we
can eliminate a number of the health concerns that people are facing
today. Reports say that people with disabilities are living longer than
in the past. That's encouraging. |
