Assistant Bookkeeper Payroll

Qualifications:

AAS degree in accounting with 1-3 years experience as payroll bookkeeper.

Primary Responsibility:

To assist in the preparation of the Collective Bargaining Payroll in compliance with government regulations and Agency policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, assist in the following functions:

  1. Review and check for arithmetic accuracy all payroll source documents prior to inputting into the computer and verify that all source documents are approved by the person designated with the authority.
    1. Process Bargaining Unit Payroll- Bi-weekly
      1. Calculate timesheets for payroll process, input and reconcile
      2. Calculate and enter HR changes and probation accruals
      3. Audit payroll output, timesheets to Earning Proof Reports
      4. Prepare manual check requests with appropriate backup
  2. Commence paying new employee only upon receipt of signed notice received from Human Resources
  3. Review salary changes and issue check only upon receipt of signed notice from Human Resources or authorized designee.
  4. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor
