Turning Disabilities into Capabilities
2nd Annual Night on the Slopes
02/16/2010
With snow crunching under foot, over 150 people showed up for the second annual Aspire Night on the Slopes. Those who attended enjoyed a night of skiing, boarding and tubing at Kissing Bridge on Thursday, February 4. The event also included an all-you-can-eat buffet, featuring chicken parmesan and pizza as well as a basket auction. “Tubing was fun,” said Jennifer Ostrowski, who attended for the second year in a row. “It is nice to get outside and do something fun in the winter time. And winning the digital camera in the basket auction was even better!”
The fundraiser grossed nearly $12,000 in gifts and contributions. “It’s nice to be able to offer a family friendly fundraiser to support Aspire. It’s fun to see the kids faces as they wait around for the basket raffles to be drawn, hoping that they are a winner. We saw tremendous growth this year and look forward to an even bigger year in 2011,” said Cassandra Donnelly, development coordinator. The presenting sponsor for the Night on the Slopes was Independent Health. Other sponsors included: Parkview Health Services, Connie & Jack Walsh/Walsh Duffield Companies, Grandview Construction, KeyBank and Lawley Insurance.
Thank you to all who came and supported Aspire’s second annual Night on the Slopes! Proceeds will support more than 2,800 children and adults with developmental disabilities served by Aspire. Use this link to view photos of the event: http://www.aspirewny.org/events/gallery.php
